Only if you remove the fan clutch. Otherwise it should improve gas mileage / performance. The best thing is to get an electric fan, then there's no load on the engine to restrict power or MPG.

I have an electric fan on my parts car. I am going to put it on my 90. but there are so many wires. If anybody could help me by telling me what wires to remove and how to install it on my 90, i would be greatful. All the sites i have found about this do not have pictures and just confuse the hell out of me.

You can do it several ways...
You can run it off a switch or a relay... I used to run mine off a switch inside the cab...That way I knew that it was on...But you can run it off a relay that will only come on when the car key is turned... Hopefully someone can give you a more detailed explanation though... |

wouldnt a relay be better? A relay would tell it to turn on at a certain temp right? and when the key is off it can just cool itself. I figure i would forget to flip the switch and my car get pretty hot.

No a thermostat tells the fan to turn on / off. A relay is the "proper" way to route the power. Use the relay, either remote the power using a switch (ignition of flip) or thermostat (your choice).
