Will afr 165's work well with my set up or should i stick with gt 40x's?

I'm knew to modded mustangs and am really getting interested in modding my stang. I have had my 91 5.0 5 speed for 4 years now, and just started really getting into modifying it. I am in the process of having 3.73 gears installed as I type. I'm looking to build my engine up in the next year or so (I'm in college so I'm trying to acquire parts as I can afford them). I had a set up in mind and have started to acquire parts for it. I was going to go for a complete GT 40 set up and have acquired a GT 40 intake, and was eventually going to get gt 40x heads, an e303 cam, and 1.7 roller rockers. Well i have been thinking that I want afr 165 heads, because i want to stay emissions legal and get as close to 300 rear wheel hp as possible (more is good less isn't horrible). My question is though, will the rest of my set up hold the afr's back if i keep that set up and go with afr's? or should i just stick to the gt 40x's (money really isn't an issue)? Thanks, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If money is not an issue i would get tfs heads holley systemax intake and a custom ground cam. And sticky tires so you can run 11's.

I would opt for something else than a systemax intake on a 302 such as a trick flow street burner.i

And i doubt you will be able to run 11 with a mild 302.

11's would be nice, even high 11's but my main goal is to just get as close as possible 300 hp at the wheels.

Go for the AFR 165s or TFS Twisted Wedge heads. I'd probably look into a different cam such as a TFS stage 2 or one of the Comp Xtreme cams.

You don't even need a custom cam.

you need a dead on set up to run 11s with 300 hp, but people do it. It isn't going to happen unless you are a track regular and work at it to get the car set up.

I'd say go for the trickflow top end kit, possibly the one with the stage 2 cam and track heat intake.
