5.0 convertible body stiffening & shift kit advice.
So as you have all seen I am a rookie in the Mustang world. I have decided to go with 4.10's in my automatic. I have been told that before I do that I need to stiffen the chassis and I should also add a shift kit.
I have been researching and am getting confused to say the least. There are a million brands and different things to stiffen the chassis. I want it to be as inexpensive as possible while still getting good quality. I was also told I should add a shift kit when I do the gears, I have been looking and am not really finding something that fits the description for my auto. Recommendations please. Thanks, Matt |

I just had my maximum motorsports FUll length subframe connectors and strut tower brace installed in my 88.. oh my god, the shop that installed them said they never used these before, but they will only use these for the rest of their careers. They ARE SWEET. Cornering and even.. everything is so much more stable now. Night and day difference, I never noticed how much my car flexed, and now that i did these i realize that my car was like a damn pollyo stick on the road. Now it feels like a full solid car. Dont even work on the motor yet, do these first. Oh and do it before you completely flex the shit out of the body. Do maximum motorsports, read any magazine, ask anyone, most will say MM is by far superior. Maximum motorsports gives you two massive steel beams that get welded under your car, almost the entire way through. Other than the fact that i blew my transmission, my car is a lot better now. Id get the strut tower brace because MM's strut tower brace not only get bolted in width wise, but also on the firewall pinch. Some people have pictures of their strut tower braces that dont do this that actually rip peices of the car because it is trying so hard to keep it from flexing and it doesn't get enough grab, well, not this one. The strut tower brace is a must as well and the FUll length subframe connectors, width and length wise the car is now strong and solid. Plus it looks sexy, and if you paint the subframe connectors black and put it on the lift the bottom of the car looks sweet.
hmm shift kit.. im not sure, cant help you their i drive a stick. stiffen before 4.10's. |

i would add the 4 point k member brace, i didn't because they dont work with long tubes, so i cant really add to that point, but i would do it! You have a vert so adding that would probobly be a really good idea
