I would go with something more like a 165/70/15 or 175/70/15 and believe me it will drive alot different and wont corner very good or handle really well.

It just something that takes time getting used to .

yeah i'm not expecting it to handle good at all.. just wondering if it would be too bad to drive with everyday. this car will be a street/strip car. the reason i asked specifially about 155/80/15 is because i was looking into buying this setup after i did my 5 lug conversion

79-93 WHEEL & TIRE KIT, DRAGLITE, 4 LUG, 15x3.5"/15x8" MUSTANG

would the 155's be real bad?

Driveability is fine, just don't expect to go autocrossing.

Why don't you by a set of tires designed for the weight of the car like a set of Mickey Thompson Sportsman front runners? Or do you prefer to save a couple dollars to risk your safety and the safety of everyone on the road?

does anyone actually have experience with these things or are you guys just quoting magazines ????? !!!!!!!!?????!!!!??????!! ( darrel excluded ) Jeezus all the mustangs i've owned in the last 10 or so years have all had skinnies, no sway bar, and usually some type of drag struts and i've never had any driveability problems whatsoever, Yes they all were daily drivers ( except my current car altho i drive it about 50 - 100 miles per week ) the worst thing ever to happen was trying to panic stop from 130 or so and the fronts wanted to lock up a bit but that was it. Obviously if you are a poor driver ( tailgater, wheel whipper, wannabe off ramp/corner carver ) then skinnys arent for you, otherwise the weight savings makes skinnies the only way to go (skinny tires are a helluva lot cheaper too ! )

the ones in the second link say they are for vehicles that weigh less than 3,000 lbs. only. i doubt my car will ever weigh less than that, so do you still think those would be a good idea?

screw it, it's just an extra $30 for a pair of the other ones you posted a link to.

Ultra Metric 165 15, i got them at pep boys, take the rims in and when they ask what kind of car tell them it's a volkswagon or something, i used to run these same tires on my 71 big block chevelle and my 68 gto ( also daily drivers with skinnies ) , and i made the mistake of telling them it was for my chevelle and they refused to mount the tires for me so now i just lie

I got some kumho power star tires. Load rated to 1800 lbs per tire, and they are 165s. Fit real nice on a 4.5" rim. They do sag a bit unless they are aired up to 40 PSI.

I can tell the difference between them and the 235 HTRZIIs normally in the front under spirited driving, but under normal driving conditions, they feel and work exactly the same.

thats fucked up. you act like Darrel is god or is the only person on here with experience. Darrel knows alot sure. But to "ASSUME" know one else here has experience is plain retarded.
I have had 2 mustangs with skinnies. and all of my mustangs get the front sway bars taken off. and all have been daily drivers. Ive yet to have a problem from any of them with driveability. But I dont drive like a fool on the road either

Ha Ha same shit I run on at least a dozen of my cars. I just take the wheels in and tell them to slap the $40 Volkswagen tires on em and pick em up later.

They do just as good as any other tire but braking will be an issue no matter what brand since your running a tire 1/2 the size recommended.

The only one that I am real cautious in is my 94Gt because is a freaking pig and weighs over 3,600 lbs.

the only thing with most 3.5" wide rims are that there not DOT approved, they can bend and get stressed real easy, thats why there not recommended for street use, back in march i was driving mine around with my draglites 3.5's on the front and hit a pothole and bent my front ones

i would go with atleast a 5" for street use
