Oil pressure in my 351C

I have a pinto with a 351C in it. It run's 80lbs of oil pressure at idle, but when you snap the throttle the oil pressure goes down instead of up. It seem's to be very unstable off of idle. any suggestions would be great. I have put new oil in and still has the same problem. I am running royal purple 5-30 Thanks Kevin.

pressure relief in the pump could be stuck or the sending unit has taken a crap.

80 lbs of pressure is not a good thing.

+1, hook up a mechanical gauge and start from there.

Most engines should see about 20psi at idle and 60psi at WOT
no more.

or like ryan said, your pressure realief valve could be stuck
