Seems I too didn't clarify enough on where the power can come from. a 100hp increase from a cam swap would be to say your motor had a stock cam, but TW heads, TFS Heat intake and the complimentary parts to go along with it. you can't dispute that you'd be somewhere in the 310hp range. swap in their stage 2 cam and you have their (TFS's) advertised 360hp. that's 50hp. a bigger cam, yeah you shifted your powerband and lost some torque but still gained another 10-15hp. 65hp range.

True, no cam alone will make a leap in power. But I'd still rather put my first grand in many areas in my car, and go faster and have more fun in the meantime than with just heads alone.
(these numbers are from carcraft http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ang_head_swap/ if you want to check it out)
1cfm = 2hp? you smoking some good herb there. where's that math..
stock heads flow 150cfm @.500
TW flows 250cfm

you telling all of us that because the TW flows about 100cfm more that it can potentially make 200hp more? wow.

what you probably mean is by with a properly shaped port compared to a similar head with a difference in 1cfm, there can be a potential gain of 2hp due to better velocity, swirl, thermodynamics from all the above.

Darrell, in my defense I was shielding for the underdog on a budget and trying to make a point that you don't have to pay big to play big.

have you ever seen the article on Joe Sherman's 302? an awesome example of well placed money, detail to engine assembly, and the right cam can make over 400hp. and that motor at first glance sounds like it wouldn't make shit for power. ported stock heads and a stock bottom end.

all my examples are with less than .600 lift cams, and only twisting as high as 6500rpm.

i too hope nobody gets shafted with a MESSED UP set of aluminum heads.
excluding RHS heads, typically the worst aluminum head is better than the best iron on avg.

Darrell, what do you have against gt40p heads?
I have changed more cams than most people have changed underwear. I've been going faster with low budget set ups for years......faster than alot of people that throw a ton of money at their cars. Reading articles in magazines is fine if you like entertainment. If you want education and facts you need to talk to the people that actually do this stuff and take racing seriously.

If I'm "smoking some good herb" back up your alligator mouth and build something as fast and we will go heads up on a dyno or a drag strip.

I have nothing against GT40P heads if you can get them cheap enough. They are a good budget head and probably the best factory Ford Windsor head made.
