Rear End questions..and tire question.

Ok, I really wanna start doing the rear-end in my car soon..

I want to run Strange Axles with C-Clip Eliminators..
But im hearing there not that great, and to look at Moosers.
What should I be looking at? Maybe a diff brand altogether?

I than want to pick up a rebuild kit for the posi...

As for gears.. I think im set on going up to 3:73's. Are the the "Ford Racing" gears any good?

And last one right now.. Tires. I want to get either the BFG's or M/T radials. But looking at the dimensions. There both 60 series, but the bfg is 28" tall, and the M/T's are only 26.1" tall.. Is that right?

Ok, i gotta bring this back up...
Starting to bring the money in.. And I need the answers..

What spline axle should I be looking at?
Also, are the "Ford Racing" gears any good? Or should I be looking at a different brand?

The ford gears are some of the best.

you can use 31 spine axles with the 03/04 cobra trac-lok differential, which you can pick up cheap on ebay and will hold ~500 hp.

As for the tires you can get M/T drag radials in 50 series which are 26 inch tires or 60 series which is a 28 inch tire. But this depends on the particular tire. Best bet is to look it up on summit where they give you the actual dimensions.

Ok, well that answers my gear question than. I think I will look at ordering some 3:73's soon.

As for the posi. I really want to use the stock one I think. So what spline? 29?

As for tires.. I looked up the dimmensions on Jegs, and apparently the 60 series M/T's are 26".. And the 60 S BFG are 28".. Does that make sence?

Strange makes some of the best stuff out there. Moser is pretty good too. Ford Racing gears are good. Two companies manufacture gears for Ford, Richmond and Motive......the only two that I know of anyway. Tire dimensions depend on the size. Both M/T and BFG make a variety of sizes to suit your needs. M/T seems to have the upper hand in the drag radial market as far as performance goes.

How much power do you plan on throwing at the car? Are you going to race it on a regular basis? Is it a manual or auto trans? Personally I'd put the biggest spline axles in it that I could find.

Well, I checked online on Jegs, and the tire demensions are diff..
I figured at 60 Series BFG would be just as tall as a 60 Series M/T..

I think im set on strange axles. As far as what im going to use it for. It'll see the track like everyother weekend. Car is an auto. And I want to run the biggest spline, I just dont know what the biggest is that I can run with the stock posi..

31 spline is popular & much stronger than stock you will need a different posi when you change axle spline count.Like Ryan said before see if you can find a 03/04 cobra posi which is 31 spline, BuyFordRacing.com has em too.

You must be comparing two different size tires because BFG and M/T are almost identical when you compare the same size tires. A 275/60-15 BFG is 28 inches tall and has an 11.1 inch section width. A 275/60-15 M/T is 28 inches tall and has an 11.0 inch section width. Same goes for other size tires.

You can run a 31 spline if you use an 03-04 Cobra traction lock.

Ok, well that answers all that for me than...

So ill be stuck with a 29 spline unless I go over to a new Posi. And since I dont see it happening on the budget im on I may be just picking up some 29 Spline Strange 4 luggers with C Eliminators..

I guess that answers all of my questions for now.
Thanks guys!

Stock is 28 spline.

I really don't think I'd waste the money on aftermarket axles, c-clip eliminators and all of the related parts and stay with a 28 spline factory traction lock. To me it seems like kind of a waste when you can get a 31 spline set of axles for the same price and they are much stronger. 03-04 Cobra traction locks are available all over the internet as well.
