New Ignition Box, now car runs like a pig :( why?

i put the new MSD dist in and did the plug wires and loomed them, car ran fine, then i hooked up the MSD street fire box took it down the road and its sputters and backfires and surges and has trouble idleing??? whats wrong?

do you have to tune the box? can you check your timing? is the box specfic in how you hook it up, meaning does it effect the firirng order in anyway?

no its like a 6AL just cheaper its from MSD they just came out it has a built in rev limiter in place of the pill and the timing is on i set it when i did the dist, and i followed the directions to the T

maybe the product is disfunctional, you could give MSD tech a call. the number is on thier website

yea that would suck since its brand new, and its to late to mess with it now i wake up the neighbors, it just sucks b/c it really runs bad, but then for like a few seconds sometimes it feels like its good and i can feel it try and get it then it boggs down again, i could only make it up the road and back

check you coil maybe. Also I know with my MSD the timing was effected dramatically since the hot fire is nothing like standard ignition. It took me advancing and retarding the timing for days before I even got it close to where I like it. But I run a turbo set up and an odd cam so it may be a little different for me. Just a thought though

i just unplugged the box and it runs like it used to, i think it may be an connection from the harness to the box the pig tail they gave me didnt seem right

Without seeing the instructions and seeing how it is wired on your car all anyone can do is shoot from the hip.

ya i just ordered the harness adapter from MSD and a new coil to be sure so hopefully that solves the problem
