Burning Oil

i know my piston rings are junk. but since my last oil change under heavy acceleration i make a smoke screen from my exhaust could this be from using 10w-30 now, instead of 5w-30? i installed an air/oil seperator in my pcv line to stop some oil burning but it nstill smokes bad. i also noticed it doesnt smoke when cold only when its fully warmed up. would motorcraft 5w-20 change anything.

the oil rings on ur pistons could be gone and it could also be an excess amount of carbon built up in the cylinders which would explain why it only does it when the motor gets warm.

Lower viscosity oil would make smoke from a ring problem worse, you would want to go with heavier oil... like 10w40 (although that's not as good from a performance and possibly protection standpoint).

at idle when i pull off the tube from the t/b to the oil filler neck it smokes and i rev it and smokes more. but my idle is around 1300 rpm so if the idle was 600-700 there would be less blow by. im working on fixing the idle today so ill see what happens with that

Is it bad rings or is it bad valve seals and/or valve guides. Is the PCV system functioning properly?
