Harmonic Balancer

The balancer was using a standard 4 - 3/8 bolt setup and I made a big mistake by over tightening... I decided to thread up to a 1/2 bolt and it worked well but now I have to make all the bolts the same size to keep it in balance... :-(

Why didn't you guy's tell me that this thing balances the motor on the inside and outside...

My question is " How sensative are these things to being retapped to a larger bolt pattern ???"

Balancer

Outside what do you mean? The balancer is used to balance the rotating mass inside the motor as is the flywheel for the rear. Not something I would do either.. Why dont you just remove the balancer and use a Heli-Coil and use the stock size bolts?

Instead of wrecking something I just went and bought a new one along with pulley setup... Ya the Heil coil was a good thought but may as well do it new since the stang will be seeing track time...

Not that it matters now....

As long as you drilled the same amount of material out of each hole and tapped it to the same depth for each hole... you would not of had any problems at all.
Same goes for the heli-coil idea.
