omg, i just upchucked all over, next time check out the axle caps, if no caps they should have a label on them, if theres a factory ford stamp or ford info, then you know that they are stock 28spline axles. If you end up purchasing a new set of axles, try the superior 31 spline axle kit, installed them on my old 94 gt with a 4:10gear, locker, slick and nitrous, held up amazing. And they are decently priced. Lastly if you end up purchasing a new toe nail, try moser, I heard there pretty sturdy lol hahaha

They did a mythbusters episode on that.

They found that the steel toes never bent and cut the toes off even under extreme weight. But they found that sometimes heavy things bounce off the toes and then land higher up on the foot, so you could have more of your foot severed if something heavy and sharp bounces off the steel toe.

I'm putting 4.10's in it with 31 spliners and a carbon disc rebuild kit in the tlock....... should be decent on a 306 w/ gt40p's tf stage 2 cam 150 shot

I'm almost as excited about using the 2 step as I am about the 4.10's

btw I'll try that moser nail .... maybe a 16 penny nail

I've dropped several 100+lbs things on my foot on the crane yard.
They're a toe saver for sure.

ive heard horror stories like that too so it intrigued me enough to take an old pair of steel toes out and put them under the edge of the bucket on our bucket tractor and all it did was skin the boots. i had the bucket all the way down (front tires were 2 feet in the air) and there was a little ding in them

i had that, minus the 351 hanging off the bucket, pressing on my boots

how are you going to put 31 spline axels in a 28 spline carrier?

just go to the dealership and ask for some 31 spline axle gears for an 8.8 explorer. No need to buy a complete carrier
