New best time...

Alright so last night I hit up the track to see what I could do. I couldnt use my stock 10 holes up front anymore because of the bigger brakes (and 5-lug conversion) so I had the 17's up front and was on 15x7 26x8.5 MT slicks in the rear. My very 1st run I got a 12.42 at 115, didnt get that one on vid, I only got a 1.87 60 footer also. My next run I got a 12.65 at 110. My third run I got a 12.44 at about 111 with a 1.75 60 footer. My dad got a best of 12.3 at 110 in his 1970 chevy long bed pickup, but after that he kept running slower times because his clutch was GONZO, you can tell in the vid he hits the rev limiter quite a bit.

The mods are very basic and mild besides it being a 347. I know it has a LOT more left in it if I switch to a bigger cam, intake, and port the heads. It has an e-cam, as cast trickflow heads (170cc on the intake), non-ported cobra intake, 10:1 compression, 1 3/4 MAC LT headers, dr gas x-pipe, slp LM2 cat-back, strange adjustable shocks and struts, MM sfc, MM panhard bar, 373 gears.

Its the stock t-5 on there right now. As far as the wheels up front you get better rolling resistance with skinny tires up front because of less contact patch of tire. I dont know if this is correct but Ive heard of people gaining a tenth in a 1/4 from different forums runnin skinnys up front . From what I have also heard is that each pound of rolling weight equates up to 8pounds of dead weight. If my stang was an all out drag car then I would get the skinnys, but Id rather save my money and make it go faster rather than spending it on wheels and tires, thats just my opinion though.

Im launching at about 3000-3500 and I am shifting right at 6000 rpms. Im still going by the stock tach and know that its a little off. Before I was only shifting at 5500 and only getting 12.8's then one day at the track I "accidentally" past my shift point and went to 6000 going from 1st to 2nd then right away hit a 12.5.

Thanks, yea his truck is pretty sweet. It has a motown 454 small block in it

Yea when I trapped that 115 on my 1st run I was really surprised. After that run my car stayed pretty warm was only trapping 110, thanks for the comments.

It only made 325rwhp and 376rwtq with this setup on a regular dynojet, on a mustang dyno I probably wouldve gotten like 290whp.

Id like to say with the power you put your top end is holding you back, but with the times you put out I really couldn't complain. doesn't sound like 347 numbers on the dyno but 115 all motor on the track does.

Yea I know the numbers are pretty low. Most of the parts I have on it are for a 302, but next year I plan on switching to a holley systemax II intake, comp cams 274 cam, get the heads cnc ported to 185cc (on the intake), an 80mm pro-m air meter, anderson ford motorsports power pipe, either 30 or 36lb injectors, and a tune. I've seen numerous 347's make around 380+rwhp and 400+rwtq with his exact setup.

that is very possible... seeing how im very close to that with a 331... but just remember dyno numbers are just that... numbers...they dont mean anything... they are a good guideline to see what puts more pwer down and for testing purposes... but the numbers that count are the ones on the Timeslip!

Their not to low... but like I said I wouldn't complain if your trapping 111 and 115. But like you said next year, get that better top end and then watch that thing really move.

Yea true that, the best dyno is the track
