Good parts and a well matched combo. There is a well known guy on another Mustang site that just made 526hp with a 306 which about 440hp at the wheels thru a manual transmission. He did it with 11:1 compression which will run on pump gas. The difference between a combination that makes good power and one that doesn't is the person designing it. A guy that knows what he is doing will make more power than a guy that copies what the popular Mustang magazines do. That is the benefit of paying good money for a good engine builder.

Read what darrell wrote he pretty much gave ya the answer. Its all in the combination of parts. You need to really set some kinda of goal for your car before you do anything. Is it gonna be dd, street strip, strip only, auto x ? What do you want out of the car? These things all play a part in how you set up your combo. Remember peak #s arent the whole ballgame, theres also HP under the curve . You can build a dyno queen and have HP bragging rights. But the same car can get smoked on the street by a combo with less peak hp. I doubt you would want to drive that 306 w/ 11: 1 as your dd, then again you wouldnt want to build a 8:5:1 306 NA and expect great things at the track. Do you understand what im getting at. I just had ED C at flowtechinductions put together a nice street set up for my 95. Now I know this thing will not be a dyno monster but I know for sure it will make some good #s under the cure, cause thats what I wanted a dd with good street maners and usable hp. If i have to rev to 6800 for peak #s it would be useles to me cause my car will never see those rpms. Now if i was building a car for the track the combo would be totaly different. So what Im trying to say is build the car to meet your goals and not so much (I want x amount of hp) cause you can build any motor with X hp, but is that hp where you need it and use it?
