Funny Story


So as some of you well know i got a 91 GT and i wanted a loud exhaust on it and all well i finally took the friggin time to look under it and noticed that it has a exhaust which i believe is no cats h pipe turbo mufflers with dumps just after the axle so it sounds ok not real loud lol but it also has a after market air filter but i was curious about like how much power it might have since it has these mods i was hoping like idk 250 or so but anyway my big question is do they make some sort of performace chip for it ? anyway hope u all laughed i had to call and cancel my appointment at the muffler shop lol ..

250 would be a big stretch for just having an aftermarket air filter and exhaust you would be luckey to have 215@ the wheels depending on how fresh the motor is

my car minus the headers and MAF dynoed 191hp and 266ftlbs. BUT i am at about 5500 feet so the air/fuel ratio is WAY off and it needs a tune due to that but stock they are supposed to make 200hp 300ftlbs and yes they do make chips for these cars that you can tune

lernerstang,
I think people are trying to say, you could spend money on a "chip" but your money is probably better spent elsewhere at this point since your mostly a stock config right now.

Are you an automatic or manual?

oh well alright then ya ummm its a automatic , all that i know if mods are the exhaust and what seems to be like a stock air intake tube with a big A filter on it that isn't stock ... other then that its stock ...

if your willing to spend 400+ on a chip look on ebay and look for an explorer upper and lower intake. or if your on a budget look for a cold air intake on there also. im pretty new to this also so just my advice.

get a high stall tourque converter and a shit kit and gears if you gont have them already

i didnt like it too much and 1 of my "turbo mufflers" had a nice gash in it, went to dumped 40 series flows, sounds fucking amazing, buuuut it its a lil loud so ill be gettin tail pipes in the next few months

only on the freeway if you go over like 70

Get setup so that your 5th gear ratio is 1:1, and use it... although I guess you're automatic... so...

But I can get 25 mpg around down if I take it easy and use 5th

hmm ok well i talked to my dad and he was like no gears no so i guess i cant do that but i was wondering how much all the explorer top end normally runs like at a junk yard or something like that ? do u all know ? and ya auto kinda like it cuz but kinda hate it at the same time ....

get a set of 4.10's your gas mileage will be fine. that iis going to be the best bang for the buck.. dont get a chip. 400.00 you could get a set of headers an h pipe and a nice set of magnaflows.

or get a set of lakewood 90/10 for the front and a set of lakewood 50/50's for the rear work on keeping the power on the ground..
