Why ?
cube for cube a 351W will make same power as LS1, if its done right.
I'm expecting 700ish rwhp at 16psi, LS1 would make similar numbers

They are not the end all be all of engines.
Yes, great engine ..... Yes, you can make same power cheaper with a 351W

to a limit of course. past 700rwhp all bets are off, but you're
getting away from cars and into rocket ships at those power levels

Stock for stock no production Ford engine is even close. The stock LS heads go along way. A friend of mine has a Camaro with a stock aluminum LS block, stock LS heads that makes 680hp naturally aspirated on pump gas and its his daily driver. At full weight with full factory interior it runs 10.0s. Of course it is a 408 so that helps and it has a spyder intake and a custom cam but those are all things you would do to a 351W as well. I have a small block Ford in my garage right now that makes just a bit more horsepower than that and I have a lot more money into it than my friend has in his LS. I don't agree that a 351W is cheaper. In fact I know it isn't. The LS series offers a great base to start with. The LS heads flow big numbers from the factory. Ford never has had a small block head that had anything but pathetic flow numbers from the factory. Don't let your love for Ford cloud your thinking. GM did a hell of a job with the LS series engines. Its probably one of the best if not the best small block produced as far as cost, power, economy and reliability are concerned.

I didnt say stock for stock ......... I said cube for cube.

the rest is arguable with valid points on both sides.
Again I agree, LS series are GREAT engines .........
and I thought that the LS series engines were designed by Mitsubishi, not GM
could be wrong.

to each his own, I just like my Ford small blocks
nothing against Chevy, got a Tahoe I love as my DD.
