Bad News !!!!

So finally today was D-Day to start the pony up for the first time in a little over a month. As many know i blew the passengerside headgasket. After purchasing expensive headgaskets, exhaust, lowerintake, upperintake gaskets. scrubbed everything clean with scotchbrite pads until i saw my own reflection. Had the heads eye examened and used a T-square to make sure they were not warped. Happy to say my buddy and I did an amazing job on laying the gaskets down, used proper gasket makers, pipe dope for the threads, and so on and so forth. It took me and one other mustang faniatic at a decent pace around 3weeks to completely tear down, clean, rewire, purchase $17** worth of new parts, and put everything back together.

Today we topped her off with all fluids, full on oil/coolant. Set the harmonic balancer to 10degrees=base timing. Set my 6BTM around 1 on the dial. After a more lengthy crank then normal she turned over. Once kicked over used the timing light to adjust everything for around a 850-1000RPM idle. No surges besides for the nice Cam. Of course it started smoking from the gaskets heating up. Shortly they dissapated. Shut down, let it cool down, check the dipstick and fluids, (dipstick showed no sign of coolant.) Next we started it again and made a few tweaks but overall it was ideling fairly well. Let the temp get up to around 160ish then gave it a few revs. White smoke is comming out of the passenger tailpipe. This is also the side that the head gasket blew. We let it keep running until the temp was averaging around 165orso. Still white smoke just out of the passenger tail pipe. I am running an H-Pipe also. Shut it down and looked under the car for leaks. There was a small puddle which looks to be comming from under the heads. Checked the oil once more and there was no coolant so that rules the rings being fryed. Im a little distraut as of right now, being that i just bought the car only like 45days ago and i already dumped close to 2gs ontop of the car payment.

Im planning on having everything compression checked to find out maybe what cylinder its to,and run the dye check on the heads and what not. Any one have any clues/tips/tricks/help.

cracked head?
So basically its got to be coolant entering the combustion chamber, but not getting into the oil, correct?

hey, yea im not sure, there are so many possiable problems, there is no evidence of coolant in the oil. The white smoke is only comming from the right tail pipe. Its pissing me off. Anyone wanna buy it?

Pat, why dont you buy the 5.4 turbolx is selling and get started on that... ( see classified section under engines ). If turbo would have listed it up a couple weeks sooner I would have bought it, but I had already bought the procharger when he listed it...

yea, im going to take a look at right now. 5.4 sounds badass if you ask me.
Im just thinking right now, how long does it take to get rid of all the access coolant out from the exhaust. Im running Mac Shortys, Mac Offroad H-pipe, Flowmaster Mufflers. I only let the car get up to about 160-165degress. Anyone Know?

Thanks Alot

What do you mean get rid of? Dont worry about it, it will burn off eventually and wont hurt anything in there...

ohhh..i guess i phrased it wrong. Im just wondering why its only comming out of the passengerside tail pipe. That is the side that blew the headgasket. My question is im wondering if the shits thats blowin out now is just build up still burning off? There is no coolant in the oil/no leaks from what i can see. any help?

Pressure test your coolant system. That is the cheapest and easiest way to find out without ripping your hair out and/or tearing down the engine first. Are you sure your gasket was blown? Any ideas of what happened or how it blew? A compression test as well might help narrow down where the problem is.

yea im going to pressure test the coolant system tomorrow, figure out that first. Then if that goes well im going to let it idle for alot longer than before and keep an eye on all guages and check the oil and coolant level. Yea im positive my head gasket blew. The passenger side head gasket was messed up. Where the water gullys are it overpressurized and sucked the gasket into the gully. And the gasket wasnt correct. Im just dumbfounded and trying not to punch/kick things. I LOVE MUSTANGS
