that intake box (and all box type intakes) is for high rpm and/or blower or turbo use only. it'll kill low-end power...alot. anyways the real restriction in the stock intake is the lower (particularly runner #5) not the upper. if you're looking for a cheap intake i would suggest the cobra intake, or the explorer intake is basically the same as the cobra and is cheaper. also worth mentioning is the pro products intake.

here's a dyno graph of the cobra, explorer, and gt40 intakes:

chart sourced from TMoss, who incidentally ports stock intakes and makes them perform really really well.

Not that i want one, but those Typhoon intakes are cheap. I dont know if they work at all, but they are cheap so if anybody just wants looks, there you go. (chromed for like $400)

i've heard the pro products typhoon works almost as good as the edelbrock that it is a copy of...minor casting flaws, but nothing that a dremel couldn't fix

The problem with that box intake is it still sits on top of a stock lower which is restrictive. Like TENGRAM said box intakes are more of a high RPM intake. You would be much better off with an Explorer intake.
