i have 2 questions
hey there guys it's been awhile since i have been on here because of a motorcycle accident but i am back here's what i need from you question#1
i am putting alot of parts on my 1990 hatchback 5.0 here they are trick flow aluminum heads 61 cc chambers 1.60-2.02 valves, 1.72 aluminum scorpion roller rockers, nos sniper nitrous kit {100 shot} mallory ignition system, 4:10 gears in the rear, rebuild the trac lock ,tubular rear control arms, subframe connectors, edelbrock performer rpm intake, and edelbrock carb {600cfm}now my questions are what cam should i go with {maybe an x-cam?}and {#2} what sort of times should i be looking at by the way the car has an aod tranny with a oregon 2500 stall converter in it. and the tires are 265-50-15 drag radials

The cam is a toss up. an x cam is a decent choice, I think trickflow makes springs that are perfect for that cam too, good to .542. I'm guessing that high 12's would be a good time for the mods.

Heheh... In the July issues of 5.0 Mustang&SuperFords, there's a whole big article dedicated to camshaft selection.
The FRPP B & E cams are good choices. The "E" will require checking for adequate clearanced while the "B" is a drop-in affair. I have a B in my 306 and its awesome. Lopey, choppy idle, but not so much that is rocks my teetj loose and good power all the way to 6500 or so. And its got killer toreque from the get-go. I'm not sure how well it works with spray, but in N/A form, its sweet.

X-Cam with 1.7 you are cutting it close, have to check your clearance.
I do agree "B" cam has always been a solid choice and made us good power, but so has the "E" Both do have different manners,a simple fix could be that you are running TFS heads with their spring package I am assuming, so run a TFS cam set up for your combo they have several options to fit your build up and would fit right in with that combo, check them out on line they make it real easy to decide. Get it ,degree it and beat it like you stole it, good luck and I am sure it will run well, keep us posted.

i have to admit that i love the wickedly sick lope sitting at the light in traffic but at the same time i want the power.so let me know what that would be ....by the way i have a buddy that said that he would trade me 8 of his 1.62 roller rockers for 8 of my 1.72 rockers and he said then i should be able to run the x-cam with no problems...is this true? i just feel
with all this cam stuff

I could tell you to go get the biggest, sickest cam on the market, but its not gonna be worth a shit on the street cause its profile is made for balls out 7K RPM power, you'd be pissed at that. If I tell you to get one thats made for everyday use, you'd be mad cause its doesn't shake the floorpan loose. Its not our place to tell you what to get. You know what you like more than any of us, but you have to be realistic in its application. If your car is more DD that track hero, get a more mild cam. If you get it to and from the track on a trailer, get a morew aggressive profiled design. Ford Engine Technical Specs & Information

Nobody's sayin' you're a dumbass. Least of all me.
I've seen too many times somebody wants something, but its totally wrong for the application. Here (MM) and in person. I worked at a parts store for over 4 years. Saw plenty of shit that was WAY off, but they wanted it anyway. A week later, they were back in bitchin' and complainin' about something. Thats why I said that bit about 5.0 &SF magazine. Its a good artilce and has lots of info on numerous cams. And, it gives a few websites with cam selection guidlines. My personal opinion; get a "B" cam or an equivolent. Its a good N/A and N2O cam and it offers a lopey idle and awesome power. I just don't want you to put all your faith in somebody else's opinion. Do some solid research and make an informed decision. If you're having trouble, feel free to PM me and I'll do what I can to help ya.

I have the b-cam love it. And it works well with the n20. If you run those 1.7 rockers with an x-cam more than likely you'll have to fly cut the pistons cuz 1.7 rockers give you a 30,000 more lift. But if you are going with trickflow heads look at there cams there decent cams for the doe. Good luck with the cam pick man!
