Block work?

Im getting my 351 block in about another week from an 80's astrovan. I plan to get a 408 stroker kit from woody at some point but before all that what will i have to do to the block to prepare it? I know it has to be bored/ honed but what else and whats a typical price for the prep work.

Astro Van? That would be a chevy. And why a solid cam? Unless you are going for a totaly extreme profile, no need for the hastles of the solid cam.

Just take it to a good machine shop
usually cost $700-900 from a good shop.

you will need solid roller cam lifters for a flat-tappet 351

A solid cam will always make more power than a hydrualic provided the cam specs are in line with the requirements of the engine.
