My motor only has 800 miles. It is a 347, eagle rotating assembly keith black pistons, comp cam and comp lifters timing chain, gt 40 upper & lower intake scorpion roller rockers, msd distributor msd 6a box and msd coil, autolite copper plugs and a set of taylor 409 10mm racing wires everything is new except the intakes. I'm experiencing a miss it seems like it only occurs when the motor is not @ normal operating tempature after the motor is at normal temp. the miss goes a away. When it misses if I give it some throttle it smooths out sometimes though it sounds like it is choking and then makes a loud pop not sure if the sound is coming from the intake or if it is a backfire my timing is set at 14 deg. Some people have told me it sound like my motor is running lean. I know a a vacum leak may cause it to run lean but I feel like I have solved most of the leaks but not a 100% sure if they are all gone. What else could cause it run lean or could it be running rich. I was told by the guy that built the motor that the cam calls for bigger injectors I have a set of 30lb but when they were in the car at the beging they kept fouling my plugs but I know why that kept happening cause I still had a factory maf sensor. So I went to C&L performance to purchase a maf for 30lb injectora and lee bender told me that my car should run just fine with the 19lbs. Do some cams require bigger injectors could this be causing it to run lean or rich.
Also several people told me that I would have a chip burnt for my car and others say that is not neccessary with all the modifications can the computer compensate. I'm also experincing an issue with the plugs at night around the ceramic of the plugs on all eight cylinders the glow when that cylinder fires I had motorcraft platinum plugs but just changed them to autolites copper plugs. This is really starting to bug me I have not had any luck finding anyone who can help me resolve the issues that i'm having with my car I keep being told to fix the little things such as the maf and computer and then bring it back to them.
