In your opinion

I'm about to make my next parts purchase, and I have been contemplating what to get. First of all I'm buying a shifter and underdrive pulleys, thats fo show. But after that its a toss up, Im either gona buy the march ram air system/kenny bell system, or instead an a/c delete and smog delete. Just would like to know your opinion maybe you can make my decesion easier

Unsure of exactly what your mods are. I would deff. get a shifter, not sure of youre exact choice...but i would lean twords a Steeda Tri-ax. I have used Hurst and Pro-5.0 and i like the Steeda better.

Wouldnt waste my money on underdrive pulleys. Maybe people will disagree, but thats ok. Wouldnt put money into that March Ram-air system or an a/c-smog delete. Youre really loosing no power from having smog and ac. Plus it cools you down. I would just get a JLT CAI like 100.00 from americanmuscle.com. Works good and will support youre later MAF/TB sizes.

Just one persons thoughts. Im sure you will get more.

For the price of the march ram air kit. I think its useless. As far as a/c and smog delete, you dont "have" to buy anything. Just remove them and buy a shorter belt. FREE MOD!
Save that money for some "real" mods like exhaust , or gears, if you dont already have that. Get a JLT CAI. I hear they are the best for the money.

I agree on the underdrive pullies also. They are cheap sure. But dont make much differance at all and if you deceide to go SC later you will have to remove them anyhow.

if you do go with underdrives then you should upgrade your alternator

Oh sorry didnt state my mods, I have equal length headers, cattles H-pipe and flowmaster catback, 3.73 gears and aluminum drive shaft. I looked into a JLT cold air kit, but they dont have one for speed density. Im either gona buy a tri-ax shifter or an MGW. No body thinks getting rid of your a/c and smog pump are worth anything huh?

Mod list looks good, i would maybe save some money and look into a H/C/I kit, or put them together a little at a time and do it all at once. Or look into a cheap Vortech system. You can find them on mustang forums 4 sale all the time around 1500. If not i would do some suspension work.

Also if you do plan a 3G alternator in the near future, use this it makes thing easier. Very easy install and now my car actually charges. haha. If not a one-wire from summit works just as well.

Also if you do plan on removing a/c and smog here is a nice little pic as well.

Casper98, thank you for that info on the short belt, I notice that it dosent bypass the a/c compressor though? I see that you dont run your a/c or smog pump, I take it you probably used this short belt setup, what did you do to eliminate the a/c? In regards to saving up for the H/C/I setup, I forgot to mention I have a set of gt40 heads and a tubular gt40 intake that are going on this winter with a steeda 19 cam.

I am using a 1 wire alt from summit. I have no problems with it. I am using march underdrive pullies. Running a mark viii electric fan. A 400watt amp and 1 12 inch sub. No problems so far with the summit 1 wire alternator. I believe its rated at 100 amp btw.

Also I am running the short belt on my car with no AC or Smog. You asked about the diagram not showing the AC deleted. Look at the pic again and imagine the AC not there and just get a belt to fit. Or I can get you a pic of my belt setup with the pullies and alt listed in the first paragraph.

Maybe you should take your money you have there and upgrade to MAF? Or save up a little more and get a nitrous kit to play with or a custom grind cam to match your heads and that intake you have already.

It does include the a/c. Its the short belt one. I have no a/c or smog. I got a Ford racing a/c delete and it moves the Powersteering up to where the a/c was. You ask what size belt...well almost every car is different. Kinda like my car:

a/c delete, p/s moved up
1993 Cobra Waterpump pulley
Underdrive Crank pulley
3g alternator ( 1995 size pulley )

And im using a 68.5 inch belt.

One of my next mods would be a mass air conversion.
