Distributors For Carbing' An 88' GT

Hello, I just bought an 88 GT and was going to carb it. But when looking for distributors, they dont list the mechanical distributors for it because it is a FI car (stock). Anyone heard of having any problems with using a Mallory mechanical distro, or an MSD one? Any info would be great.

Using a Mallory unilite with an accel coil, pretty simple setup, and seems to work okay.

I have a mallory but they have a module that seems to go bad at least once a year or so and leaves you sitting somewhere. They are very sensitive to current fluctuations.
Some people go yearss without trouble from the module but I'm one of the unlucky few. I'd rather have an MSD

well, my 89 has been messed up since i bought it. Blown head gasket, wrecked, over heats bad....but it seems the dist. if fine....but i have only driven the car a few times for a very few minutes....Hey for $500 what do you expect....The exhaust alone is worth that much.

I may buy it Tony. Which one is it? I was going to get their (ol' school) fully mechanical one, not the one with the electronics in it (laser trigger).

If you're talking to me...I have the mechanical advance unit for a 351w, but from what I understand, all the unilite models have the internal modules that goes bad.
Mallory has come out with a new module, called the "E module" which is supposed to be much more reliable than the old ones. I have one of these new modules in now and do far, it's working great.
If it goes bad again, I'm switching to an MSD dizzy.
