When you hear the click, do your headlights dim and does it sound like the starter might be trying to turn? If so, I would say the starter is failing.
When they get old, the windings start to go bad and they can require more power and provide less torque, when they are hot, it is much worse.
A weak battery has a harder time turning over a bad starter so it could actually be a combination of both. Clean your terminals and have your battery checked for free at AutoZone/Advance Auto or what ever you have up North. If that checks out good, get a starter. If it is bad, get a battery and if it is still harder to start when hot, go back and get a starter.

are you running long tube headers? I have had this problem before. I used header wrap and a starter heat blanket and is seems to have fixed it.

I had new alt and starter in the past year installed but I think the heat is a issue, Im running equal length headers and maybe causing the starter to get too hot. S

You can get a wrap style heat shield at just about any parts store. When you say you have equal length headers, do you mean shorties? No shorties should cause a heat issue unless your h-pipe is way out of whack.
