Does anyone have a suggestion for a mild camshaft for a 5.0 carburetor engine?

Yeah, bone stock, in a couple of years I want to stroke it a 347, so I just want something mild now.

if youre converting a 93 efi motor to a carbed motor, youre going to need an 85 distributer with a steel gear, a cast gear will get eaten up up and cause a big ol failure

i think the e303 has a steel gear, so yes.

dont fear about finding an 85 distributer with a steel gear. i went to napa and had them order one for me and it cost me like 50 bucks, but i also gave them the original distributer.

advanced auto and any other place will be able to order you a distributer like that as well

i believe 1985 was the first year they started putting steel gears on the cams and it was also the last year for carburated motors.

You can use Ford's Dura-Spark module with the '85 distributor or an aftermarket like MSD 6AL. Make sure the gear is steel on the distributor because there were cast gears used on non-roller motors. If you get a reman from AZ or pep boys etc. double check the gear as well.

I currently have a 289 in my 67, I am going to use this 302 in it. Can I just use the same distributor and change the gear? The distributor is not all that old. Is it possible to use the gear for the distributor that I removed from the 302?

if you have an older style dist. either vac or mechanical advance, you can just knock the pin out at the bottom and take the gear off then put on yer steel gear. make sure you use a new pin tho
