I went through this on my 04 GT. There's a chance, I guess just based on the differences between cars, that your steering shaft will rub on the headers, despite the fact that the headers are pre-notched to try to allow for the steering shaft. Either you put up with it, or you buy the adjustable steering shaft from steeda (AKA the "flaming river") that should allow you the eliminate the rubbing issue. NOTE: I have just put up with it for the last 2 months, I'll swap out the steering shaft eventually.

Mine were a nightmare even with the Flaming River shaft.

aftermarket steering shaft gets rid of that huge "rag joint" on
the stock shaft.

Performance gains will depend on your mods.

but tell me if I'm wrong r.barn for most cases a long tube outflows and boosts performance by 3-5hp over shorties right? I only had them once and it was on my 73 w/ a 302. Friggin loved them and how they sounded.

3-5??? I have seen cases of long tubes putting over 10 to the wheels more than shorty's, ive never seen it compared on a supercharged or nitrous app, but im sure that number grows and grows.

Long tubes ftw.

I'm sure it varies. I thought I saw 3-5 but don't doubt its more man. I was just pointing out that they do make more power than the shorties even on a stock block. I'd think they'd do better w/ a power adder than shorties too. Thanx for settin me straight though. Always good to have someone help me out and teach me more.

for only picking up 5-10 hp LT's are not worth the hassle.

now picking 20-30+ hp on an s/c or stroker set-up then they
are worth the headaches.

guess it depends on the car and application. Didn't you have the problem cuz of the 351w rbarn or is it typical of the fox body?? I would just think more air in more air out so the LT's would give you what you need if you ever go w/ forced induction. I'm sure they are a hassle but in the long run I'd think it'd be worth it if you got future plans that could use the extraflow?

Like I said, it all depends on mods.

If you plan on doing a lot of modding, then yes LT's are part of
a good overall plan.

If you have a stock motor that just plan on doing some minor bolt
on stuff to, then its debatable.

They are really NO FUN to take on and off. 302 or 351
The 351 is just worse.

If you dont mind the frustration then no big deal, go for it, wont hurt that for sure.

After having had them and gone thru taking them on and off a couple of times
for various reasons, I would not install them just to pick up 10hp, IMO

LT's are def worth the hassle of 10+ wheel hp, and on a fox they really arent that bad
