I wouldn't worry about taking weight out of the rear. It isn't going to hurt anything as long as your suspension works. I would definitely start with other things before I removed weight from the rear. At this point taking 50 pounds off the front will be more beneficial than taking 50 pounds off the rear. Tackle the front first, then worry about the rear.

+3 or so, ,, mustangs, especially fox's have super light rear ends,.. ive seen people go as far as putting more weight in the back to compensate for traction. and im not talking a little weight,.. im talking like a few sand or cement bags.

Those people need to understand how suspensions work or have a poorly designed suspension. Dumping a ton of weight in the rear is just compensating for a poorly operating suspension. When I build a race car I take weight out from everywhere I can remove excess weight. I do not worry about front, rear, etc. Then when the car is finished I add weight back in where it needs it like the passenger side. Guys I race with have lead plates that they will add to the front of the car if the track is hooking real good and will remove them if the track is a bit slick. If weight must be added to the car to get it up to a specific weight for the class in which you are racing, then the obvious place to add the weight is in the rear. However it is not necessary to add weight to the rear in order to maintain traction. A suspension that works good will hook regardless.

put the battery in the back. tke the back seats out,get a tubular front end, take out all the insulation out from under the carpets, switch to a lighter seat, there are alot of ways to cut weight.
