Ran my slow car at the track! Need advice

So I've posted on here before that I'm unhappy with the results of my new motor build. I did a fresh 302, world jr heads, b cam, harldand sharp 1.6rr's, all new gaskets, timing chain etc. The motor runs good. No blow by seems like perfect compression. I also did 255lph pump, fuel pressure regulator, new stock injectors, full msd ignition, etc. So i wasn't happy with the results so everybody on here told me to run it and post the slip. Ok a few things to keep in mind when trying to help me figure this out. I'm on crappy street tires, but I am pretty exp with dragracing and I'm a pretty decent driver also it was with 3.73's also. MY track is at 5380 feet above sea level. I did a best of a 15.1 at 93.3mph with a 2.4 60ft. So needles to say i'm a little disapointed, I know the altidue is really affecting it and makes it hard to judge. To put a few things in perspective my brother in law has an auto ls2 gto with a cold air and exhaust and his best time was 15.003 at 94.9 mph. My buddy's lx with just full exhaust and intake stock gears did a 15.5 at 89mph same night. So i'm a little quicker I'm still not sure i'm where i should be. Sorry for the long post just wanted to explain fully. P.S on a good note I ran my bone stock 08 gsxr 1000 and I did a 10.7 at 136 so I was pretty happy with that one.

yeah i think the altitude is taking of a sec maybe 1.5 secs.....honestly alot of the stuff you have didn't really help your performance.....the fuel pump fuel pressure regulater were cut down by the stock injectors and the msd isn't really needed...i think if you were at sea level you would have happy with the times you run....still nice looking car and nice bike times

stock injectors are good for upwards of like 300hp though,,.. and you have some decent mods so the only thing i could come up with is the altitude or the tires.. Maybe grab some intakes and let the heads work a lil bit more efficiently,..

The fuel and igniton mod's are because I also have a 150 shot, Also I was on normal heat plugs and 15* timing with 42 pounds of fuel pressure that night.

That about low 13's corrected. Get an intake and tire and she will run 12's.

You cannot flow more than your intake allows, I think that is your main problem.

The mph suggests that even with better traction youll be in the low 14s.

that cam is killing you, I would get an intake first though... trust me I speak from having a bcam on a setup one time... get some stickier tires... control arms...subframe connectors...maybe take the seats out...an next time spray the piss out of it...

if yer on a 150 shot im assuming you are tuned. is it wet or dry? if you are tuned fer the shot then you would be runnin a lil on the rich side meanin it would slow you down, and i wouldnt spray 150 with 15* timing.....im sure you wont. how much pressure did you have in the tires? how quick were you shiftin? my 90 went 14.01 @ 99.6 thursday night grindin every gear. stock except fer some flows and weight reduction. even pulled a 2.0 short (60') on street tires........sounds like you might need a driver mod.............j/k

dry kit anything over 100 you would have to tune the PCM to add fuel so it doesnt go lean and melt the motor.........just to be safe. wet kit the fuel mixes with the spray and comes out the same nozzle so there would be no need to add fuel thru the PCM because you would tap into the fuel line and run it to the fuel solenoid. thats why i was wonderin if its a dry or wet kit

A dry kit adds fuel by either raising pressure thru the FPR, or running the nozzle thru the Maf. Ive never heard of a ecu tune for nitrous, then it would constantly add fuel all the time, not just for nitrous.

A nitrous tune should only be a slight timing retard, and mabe some colder plugs.

Hmmm, neither of my wet kits mix he fuel and the nitrous together, they have seperate spray bars...maybe I set it up wrong...lol.

To the OP, your times are right for the altitude. 14.0 after altitude correction, with a 2.4 60 foot time that is pretty good. BTW a 2.4 60 foot time is awful, I did better in my FWD tiburon (2.0).

The only time tuning the ECU is possible, that i know of, and have used, is with an AFM PMS tuner. The tuner corresponds with a single nozzle dry system, and changes the computers tune onces the gas is flowing. No need for plumbing the laughing gas into the FPR. Really cool setup. I miss it.

Some of the single nozzle wet systems mix fuel and Nitrous together. Others spray the Nitrous and fuel seperately, from two different holes, but the N20 and fuel mixes before it enters the chambers. Just thought i'd share.

Thanks for all the advice and good comments guys, You've really cheered me up. No i don't spray the 150 on 15* I spray it at 10* with a stage colder plugs. I actually am a pretty decent driver as far as shifting, And I'm good at launching my car on the street but not at the track. Part of the deal is I'm sure I could have gotten a better time but I only got to make two passes and i wasn't prepared for how bad my car spun on the track compared to the street. I did a tiny dry burn out just enough to knock all the rocks out of my tires, like two seconds tops. The launch was bad but the other thing that really hurt me is that when i drive on the street and race i just absoulutley rip the the shift like wot and I never even hit the limiter, but I did that same thing on my 1-2 at the track and i spun like shit all the way through second, and it never does that on the street so I never really got a good run. I'm gunna get some e.t streets and an intake and some practice. See here's the other deal i only built this motor for the summer. I have a set of tfs 205cc heads that are new and I'm waiting for winter to get a 347 from woody. How bad will it be if I purchase a tf track heat manifold that will be for the 347 but I'll throw it on for now? I'm really not a bad driver. I did awesome on bike but for some reason I don't know if it was my tires or our shity track but it felt like i was driving on water. Oh and my nitrous kit is a wet throttle body plate from nitrous works but I'm gunna get the spray plate for the tf manifold when i get it.

im at the same altitude and minus the heads, and cam and i ran the same, 15.1 at like 92 with a 2.4 60, so i would have deffinantly expected 14s out of that car
