engine light


i put a 160 degree thermostat in my car, would it through an engine light if it wasent reaching a high enough temp???? it comes on after like 10 mins then goes away as the engine gets hotter

shouldn't matter what size thermostat you put in.

could be the ECT sensor going bad. 160 should be a good operating temp, no reason to throw a CEL.

Engine Control Transistor. It's in the intake on the front driver side of the lower., there is one on the heater tube on the lower intake on the passenger side too.

heater tube?, and is it twords the front of the lower or the rear, like is it under the upper so i cant get to it if i dont pull the upper

Yes, 160 degree thremostats will throw a check engine light.

yeah to some extent. cooler operating temperatures do affect your performance.

It will run a little richer.

Yes it will be richer across all cylinders. It will probably do more harm than good at high altitudes.

you car will not reach full operating temp, and you will not be driving around in closed loop
