Buying a Mustang. Opinions wanted
Hi, Im going to probably be buying this 93 5.0 next week. Just curious what people think of the mods done to it. What should the Horsepower and Torque be around, and what should it be able to do in the 1/4? I probably wouldn't use the nitrous much, so tell me what it would do with and without it. I know I cant ask for you to be completely accurate, but im a Chevy guy, and new to 5.0L's, so I have no idea what to expect lol. Should I be able to pull a mid 12 with good traction without the Nitrous?

12.50s shouldnt be hard at all. With some skill, 12.teens are possible without the gas. Sounds like a decent, mild combo.

Awesome! Thats what I was hopping for. What would be a safe shot for the motor? Probably need more specs on internals though.

Ive been really over zealous with Nitrous in the past with 5.0s. Safely, and reliably, 100-125hp will be the hot ticket. Ive done waaaay more, but you have to walk, before you can run.

yeah, I would perfer it was never sprayed actually. I've never been a fan of nitrous, but its something new I guess.
Say I ran a 100 shot, sprayed maybe once a month, if that. How much longevity would I loose from the engine? |

When I had my 2000 SS I sprayed that car religiously for years on a stock bottom end with a 100kit. You have a built bottom end it should be no sweat for that motor.

Thanks for the info guys. Just for laughs, what would you think it would do against my buddys Mustang? Its an 02 GT convertible, all the bolt ons, 3:73's, Nitto Drags, Stage 3 racing cams. Everyone says he went too much on the Cams, shoulda went with stage 2. |

With slicks and good driving 12s will not be a problem. Don't fear the nitrous. Once you use it you won't be able to stop using it.

From what the seller is telling me the tranny wont though. He said it might only last the summer if I run it hard alot. Says the tranny cant hold the power the engine is putting out. So I'll probably just take it easy for the few months of summer left and save up for a tremec over winter.
Went and saw it today. Seems really good. I made an offer to the dad, and he said his son would most likely take it, so hopefully I will hear back from them tommorow and I'll have myself a 12 second mustang this thursday ![]() Engine only has about 8000 Kilometers on the rebuild, trans and rear about the same. But he says the trans just isnt made for the abuse the engine is putting out. Best part about it, it looks so clean and stock lol. Simple paint with stock 5 star ponies, no big tach or anything. The cam rumble kinda gives it away though. |

Its more luck than how you drive it. Some guys (like Ryan) are lucky bastards.

I figured it could take it, but these guys seem to think there is no way it can. He said it would last the summer, and maybe longer if I took it easy. Maybe he is always rippin power shifts lol. They said this is the 3rd T5 in it.
They said it functions fine right now, but theres some kind of "howling". I haven't driven it yet, so I don't know for sure what it is. If he takes my offer we'll put a day pass on it and I can test drive it. But he was very sure about it. "this tranny will not hold the power" "you need a tremec". Maybe their transmission mechanic is an idiot lol. |
