No engine light?

Ok this is the deal. I bought a 1993 GT for $1000, the kid said it had an aftermarket cam and rockers and that it had a bent pushrod. The car hasn't started in a long time. So for $1000 I bought the car anyway because the car is in great shape. I get it home put a battery, alternator and an oil change in it. Once I get it started I don't hear any noise in the motor other then a miss and the worst exhaust leak I have ever heard (lol). So I go to the local parts store pick up Exhaust gaskets, and a complete tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires and an air filter. Once I get that done I start it again and it still has no power and it hesitates when you hit the throttle along with some small back fires. I was wondering if it could be timing or maybe it still could be a pushrod ext.

Am I missing something?

Did you fix the bent pushrod? That would be the problem..

I didn't fix the pushrod because it has no engine noise. I would think it would have a noise in the motor if it had a bent pushrod? I was just going to replace them anyway if everyone thought it could still be the problem.

I don't know much about engines, but I would assume that's the issue. Replace that one and see if it changes.

theres a whole slew of problems it could be, but i would check those pushrods before you try and fix anything else.
