getting my stang running

I just put my rebuilt tranny back in the stang. The stang had been sitting for a couple years while I did this and other resto things like rims and interior. The car is pretty much finished besides a few small things and oh ya, getting it to start again!

It wouldnt crank. So I jumped it and got interior gauges to light up but no crank, no turn over. I found the battery to be bad so I replaced it and tried again. Now I get great juice but still no crank/turnover.

Well I guess Ill check the starter relay and starter next. But one thing: there is a sensor missing in the tranny. Could this cause it not to start? Ive asked at another forum and they said no. Its either the neutral sensor or the backup sensor I think.

Anyways, any help is muuuch apreciated guys and gals. Thanks!

Oh and Ill be selling this stang once it starts up! 110k miles and in great restorated condition.

Its a 89 hatchback Lx 5.0 in marroon color.

Same As Posted Before The Neutral Saftey Switch Could Be An Issue As Well As The Starter ***** Before Starting The Car Since Its Been So Long Try To Ratchet The Crank With A Hand Ratchet It Will Be Hard But You Dont Want To Try To Start The Car With The Oil Not Being Circulated For Such A Long Time the reason for this is because the CILINDER walls will be dry as well as the rockers..... Give It A Good Couple Truns Like 3 - 5 Complete Revolutions Then Good To Go : ) Also Turn The Crank In The Direction In Which It Spins When The Car Is Running *** you can also do this by disconnecting the silonoid from the spark wire make sure you cover the silonoid with some sort of rubber covering to prevent spark contact with any other wires on or in the area
