Heads Change

my stock heads on my 95 gt are 1.84 /1.54 valves with 60-63cc chambers.im looking at buying brand new fully done set of heads that are 1.94/1.6 61cc ..i want redone heads and i want an upgrade for performance but dont want to change pistons its my everday driver so i was wondering if putting the 1.94/1.6 heads would be worth spending the money as far as performance goes ..i dont want to spend the money on new heads if it wont make a power diffrence ill just have my stock ones redone...help me out thanks

Depending on how much your going to spend...

For ~$1000 you can have a set of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads with 2.02/1.60 valves that will work with the stock pistons up to .500" lift.

These heads with a matching TFS Stage 1 cam will yield ALOT more bang per buck vs. a set of ported cast iron heads that wont make anywhere near the power as the TFS heads and end up costing about the same in the end.

Spend the extra $ and go aluminum. TFS, AFR, or eddie.

Stock heads are stock heads. Its not worth it to spend money on bigger valves and/or porting on stock heads. A set of aftermarket heads out of the box will kill any ported factory head.

I can think of atleast 3 dozen factory cars that come with aluminum heads in the last 10 years, so what you heard is bad info in regards to aluminum heads

Aluminum heads don't over heat. Whoever told you that needs to get his head out of his ass. Damn near everything comes from the factory with aluminum heads these days. They disapate heat much faster than iron which is good. If you can swing it, go with some good aluminum heads. They will be a much better investment with much greater rewards.

Probably, but the only way you will know is to check valve to piston clearance........which you should always do when assembling an engine.
