my car is slow

i just bought a 1990 LX 5.0 the day before yesterday, and it has a cold air intake. it is absolutely slow as shit. my stock '92 LX 5.0 could beat this car all day long. i can't even do a brakestand in this car. it has new plugs, plug wires, rotor, cap, and button, but it's still slow. i've cleaned the throttle body (dirty as hell) and bumped up the timing, and only noticed a very small differece. what's wrong with it and what can i do to fix it?

maybe ur t-loik needs a rebuild

if ur not putting the power to the ground it's useless

i don't think it's the t-lok. i can be crusing down the road and stomp it, and it'll just BARELY pull. it seems like it takes forever for it to build RPMs when i get on the throttle hard

ahhhhhhhh

ur cat's might have possibly gone bad, i had the same problem in my z28..... it got to the point where the car could brake faster then it could acclerate before i swapped them out...

sounds like clogged catilytic converters to me

in have a feeling that if he cant do a break stand putting the power down is not the probem lol. I would check fuel pressure, compression and leakdown. That should tell you alot.

Just kidding. Does everything else seem normal? Idle, no wierd sounds or anything, no shaking? Is there anything else out of the ordinary going on?

well the car still passes emmissions. the guy i bought it from did put new cats (or i guess they could have even possibly been used) on it though because it was failing emmissions before

the z28 passed an within 2 weeks i was having that problem...

dealer replaced it for me, and then replaced them again cause they were bad too

stand behind both cars with them running and see if they creat the same amount of pressure

So Dude I Know Everyone Wants To Help But Keep In Mind You Bought A Used Car That Might Not Have Been Working So Well From The Previous Owner Who Had It !! Also Keep In Mind That Now You Have A New Project Car You Must Relax !!!!! Because You Need To Inspect The Car Slowly Learn It Front To Back The Only Way To Find A Problem Is To Learn About You Car By Research And Changing Parts !! ***** A Major Issue That Could Be Is The Gas Pump Just Because Your Getting Gas And The Car Starts Does Not Mean Your Pump Is Working Right This Could Be Your Issue And The Gas Filter As Well And The Injectors But Injector Rarly Go So Start From The Gas Filter First Thats Cheap Insurance Before Changing Anything Major !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, the problem is just what i expected it to be. my '92 LX has 3.27 gears and my '90 LX has 2.73 gears. lol

not really a whole bunch of differance between those gear ratios. I could see it being somewhat slower, but it shouldnt be much slower.

You want a set of 3.27s let me know.
