intake?

ive heard that 96-01 exploders have gt40s/gt40p. I also heard the cobra intake is same as the exploder. My only question is, is it the same year exploders as heads? (for cobra intake?) let me kno?

The cobra intake has shorter runners than the explorer.

longer runners, and or a large plenum are designed more twards torque, and low RPM response, shorter runners are the opposite.

96 to early 97 Explorers and Mountaineers used GT40 heads. Mid 97 to 01 used GT40P heads. The 93 Cobra intake outflows the Explorer intake but the design is very similar. The lower intake on the Explorer, Cobra and GT40 tublar intake are all the same. The uppers are slightly different between the Cobra and Explorer.

Flow numbers:
93 Cobra
runner - CFM
1 - 187
2 - 203
3 - 200
4 - 200
5 - 188
6 - 206
7 - 207
8 - 208
Average - 200

Explorer
runner - CFM
1 - 169
2 - 180
3 - 176
4 - 180
5 - 177
6 - 177
7 - 183
8 - 183
Average - 178

That is just a tapped hole though. The functional part of the lower intakes are the same between the GT40, Explorer and Cobra.

Yes. 96-2001 all have the Cobra style intake. There are 2 or 3 variations to it though concerning the EGR and such I believe but I really don't know what the differences are.
