a few ?s about rear suspension

well im new to the quad shock rear. my rearend feels loose as if the tires were movin front to back (one wheel moves forward and the other back simultaneously) and ive heard the shocks could be worn out or the c/a bushings. another thing is when i go over bumps there is a loud bangin noise in the back. im swappin over to tubalar c/a's upper and lower and takin the lowering kit off and swappin to a drag suspension with subframes, so if the new bushings and suspension will solve the problem then thats fine. im just curious as to what it is. also i know this is from chassis flew but there is cracks on the sides of the d/s hump right where the bottom of the backseats would be (back of the seat where floor rises), and two more smaller cracks right behind the console on the d/s hump. there is a crack in the back goin across the hump where the seat backs bolt down at also that connects the 2 lengthwise cracks. when i get the connectors put on should i weld these cracks up? and also could that be causin the banging? it didnt make the bangin noise until the cracks appeared.........sorry but im a noob to this quad shock stuff. i had an 83 and also a 81 and neither had quad shock. im just confused and wonderin if anybody has any .02 to add in. any help or opinions appreciated.

Quad shocks are nothing more than a band aid for a poorly designed factory lower control arm. Take them off and throw them in the garbage if you are getting aftermarket control arms. I don't know if I'd worry about drag springs in the rear. Lowering springs work just fine. I used drag springs once and ended up taking them out and putting stock GT springs in. Put that money toward an anti roll device. An anti roll device will do alot better job at reducing body roll than drag springs and air bags will do.

Those cracks are typical on fox body cars that have been heavily abused. When the cars twist up the floors crack. If you have access to a welder I'd weld them shut.

aight. ill prolly throw some stock springs back in and the frame connectors are like #2 on the list along with control arms fer the front and back. so i can take the 2 shocks that run front to back off and throw them in the trash right now? what would be makin the rear feel loose like that tho? bushings?

Yep, throw the quad shocks away if you put aftermarket control arms on. The quad shocks were only used to reduce wheel hop that is caused by a poorly designed factory lower control arm. The loose feeling could be caused by bad bushings or broken parts. Its hard to diagnose without looking at the car.
