Is it calibrated to your injector size?

are you looking for a time improvement with just a MAF upgrade? if so, i think that is kind of unlikely

Up grading your maf is all about flow, and the larger the bore, the more flow, or the less of a restriction. That is why all companies offer larger than stock bore sizes. The hard part is to increase flow while keeping voltage numbers near their true value thru the entire range.

so what do you think about going with a 65mm, it will be bigger than stock but not to much air that the tb cant suck hard enough

Ideally, you should be running the biggest MAF you can, calibrated to your injector size.

so do you think it could have been weather conditions that were causing bad results?

post pics or at least give the specs from both time slips, the before and after. what were the temps, what was the humidity ? how was traction ? the timeslip will tell if the maf hurt you or if the weather/track conditions did

stock for stock. 87-88 SD cars are faster than 89-92 MAF cars.

so... of course you slowed down by adding a MAF

yea... posting at 4am definitely has its drawbacks....

What brand is the maf? Did you try clocking it a little bit. sometimes the actual position of the sensor can make a HUGE difference

You can not make a valid comparison if you don't log your passes. You need to log weather conditions, tire pressures, shift points, etc. so you have something to compare. A change in any of the variables will make a difference in how the car performs. Changes is weather can have a major effect on how the car performs. You also need to compare every part of the timeslip which can indicate if track conditions are poor or if there are horsepower issues or other issues with the car. A log book is a good investment.

I've never seen a larger mass air meter lose any horsepower.
