C4 Cooler lines
Another stupid question by me, but i am new to ford products. I just got my c4 tranny delivered to me and i am swapping out my t5 for this one. I am curious about the cooler lines. there are two threaded holes on the tranny. im assuming they are the cooler inputs and outputs. one is right behind the bell and the other is just in front of the tailshaft. which one is the in and which onw is the out or does it not matter

It doesn't matter. Just hook them up to a cooler. The cooler doesn't care which side is pressure and which is return.

well, really, you should always hook it up knowing which is which. Reason being, IF you are running it thru a stock cooler, then to an after market you want to always run the trans cooler OUT to the top of your stock cooler, and out the bottom, to the top of the after market to the bottom. As far as top and bottom goes, that really dont matter, but always run it to your stock cooler first, then the aftermarket, because the stock cooler, can only cool it as low as the temp of the radiator fluid, provided the stock cooler(which as far as i know all mustangs, or atleast up to 93 with an auto trans) is made part of the radiator. so, yea, the one near the bell is the C4s OUT and the return is near the tail housing.

Thanks. The car has a t5 in it now. I just bought a aftermarket cooler. The car is not being run on the street. it is only a drag car. so im assuming a aftermarket cooler will be sufficent.
