What kind of steering system does the 88 have?

I lowerd my car about an inch in the front about 2 months ago and every once in a while it would pop when making really tight corners but now its starting to make horrible popping noise on normal turns. my power steering has always had a leak but it never makes the wining noise and I didnt know if it could be related. any one have the same problem?

ball joints are cheap like 5-10 bucks maybe a lil more for the good ones with the grease zerts and I would definately spend the few extra bucks for them they are well worth it....and they are pretty easy to put in.
