What next?
You might have seen my other thread about deciding which Mustang to purchase. I ended up getting a 91 5.0 with the mods bellow. Just wondering what would be the best mod to do next? I'm looking for straight line performance just to clarify, and other than FI or Nitrous.
Motor: -Rebuilt with 14,000 K -Rods, crank, and bearings replaced (not sure on specs, I have to ask him) -ARP Bolts -Fel-Pro gaskets -Stock heads Ported and Polished -E 303 Cam -Underdrive pulleys -Edelbrock Performer upper and lower manifolds -Calibrated mass air sensor -BBK Cold air kit -70mm Throttle Body -Crane Fireball Ignition coil and controller -255 LPH fuel pump and regulator -Aluminum Rad -Mac Shorties -2.5 inch with H pipe Trans: -New clutch, pinion seal and fluid -Hurst short throw Drivetrain: -Aluminum Driveshaft -Ford Racing 3:73's -New gear oil friction modifier Brakes: -New performance front rotors -Hawk brake pads -Upgraded large 73 mm front calipers -Rear disc brake conversion, 93 cobra rotors -93 Cobra Master Cylinder -Adjustable proportioning valve Suspension: -Lakewood drag shocks and struts -Steeda drag springs -Right rear drag air bag -Energy suspension polyurethane bushings -Mac Caster Camber plates -Adjustable upper and lower control arms -Granatelli rear upper adjustable control arms Chassis: -Full length subframe connectors welded in -Upper and lower Torque box reinforcements -K member brace -BBK Strut tower brace -Car hand sanded underneath and covered with Tough truck undercoating Accessories: -Full gauge instrumentation -Monster tach -Autometer A/F, Boost, and Temp gauge -Dry Cell battery -Racing buckets Tires: -New set of Falken ZE512 -245/50R16 front and 255/60R15 rear All parts taken off the car were sandblasted and powder coated, all rubber bushing and mounts have been changed to polyurethane. Thats the mod list I got with the car. Only have had it for a few days. I e-mailed him and asked if it was ever dyno-tuned. I think that would be the next step if it wasnt. Cheap, gain a few HP, and get to find out what it puts down. And we have a really good Mustang tuner in our city. I know some aluminum heads would probably help alot too. That would probably be something I would do next season. But could you recommend me a pair that would suit my engine? Would 24lb Injectors help me? |

My goals are a evening/weekend street driver that runs low 12's on pump gas. |

mid to low 13's depending on conditions, and most important.......traction and driver.
100-105 trap speed no guesses on HP/TQ (im not good at that) that a pretty clean car. a good set of heads and a better cam will get you into the 12's. no doubt.

some MT street slicks are part of the plans.
What heads do you recomend for what I want to do? Dont want to have to change other parts to make them work either (intake etc.). Dont need to be the best of the best and cost a bunch, but some quality ones that give good gains. |

I'd lose the stock heads and throw a set of Trick Flows on it.

the cam you have will get the job done, theres plenty of good heads just depends on what you want to pay....
there is a guy on corral running GT40 irons w/GT40 explorer intake not ported or anything with stock cam runnin 11.9s. You can pick up a set of GT40 heads for cheap and just get them run through and ported if you want
