What you get is probably up to your parents. Talk to them.

what to get depends on how much youre going to have to spend. Its nice to see someone young on here planning this far ahead. dont get an 86 if its the original motor. not as much expansion potential. I take it this is going to be your daily driver. so figure in commute, are you paying for gas? or will your parents help? a mild 306 (just a 302 with a clean bore), Heads, cam, intake, exhaust (go with magnaflows with tail pipes they are the most tolerable and still sound good), and some 3.73s would be plenty of fun for a first car. and you can always change things as you go along as long as the money is there. and honestly, the year and what not is up to you as far as preference goes. 87-93 gts in my opinion are the best looking. But you cant go wrong with a notch either. they tend to be a little less sporty looking and get a little less attention from the cops assuming they dont hear you and just see you. and welcome to the mustang scene. get ready to spend your every last penny on your project!

get a cali emissions 88 or reg emissions 89 so its already gota maf, saves trouble later, and avoid the 93 (what i drive) if you plan on boost or spray
