I just ordered a set of upper and lower control arms. Now im wondering about install. How hard are they to install? Will I need any special tools? Can anyone who has done it before walk me through it? Thanks

Its pretty easy, keep a jacu under the rear end after you put the car on jack stands so that you can move the rear end around. Do one side at a time.

What brand did you get? I have my whole rear end out right now to install my 373's, al. driveshaft and I'm gonna paint it. You basically unbolt the old ones and then bolt the new ones in. I got the summitt rear control arms in today and will put them in when I put the rear end back in.

The only thing I needed was an 18mm deep socket. I actually photographed and documented my install. If you're interested in seeing it PM me your email address...

I got the Mac Boxed Upper and Lowers from 50resto. They were cheap and looked pretty strong. I got them powdercoated black. They are non-adjustable. Is there really a whole lot of difference between aftermarket control arms?

a breaker bar, 2 jacks, and 2 jackstands and a basic socket set. Put the jackstands high enough so that when you unbolt the bottom lower control arm bolt that you have room to get the spring out and your not hitting the ground.

oh and if your exhaust is welded you will need a sawzaw.

id do both sides at the same time. just put a 2x4 under the diff and place the jack there. much quicker than doin one at a time and IMO its easier to line everything back up like that.

just jack it up, take off the back wheels, put the jack under the diff, take the shocks off the rearend, disconnect the upper c/a's, let the jack down slowly, remove springs, take the lowers off, and then go back in reverse with the new parts. if its quad shock throw the two runnin parrellel with the ground in the trash and while yer under there take that 10 lb weight off the bottom of the diff. not needed.

if you are planning on driving the car on the street much, you should go with a 70/30 in the front.. if its a track only deal, 90/10 will be fine

I think the theory of doing one side at a time is to keep the rear end in the right place. With the whole rear end down, it will shift around and it can be a little tricky to get it lined back up in the right place again. Maybe on a lift and a jack holding up the rear that you can freely move around it would be easier. I just went through that with a lift kit I installed on my truck in my driveway. Its not that hard I guess but it takes a little moving around to get it right.

What is really the diffeence between 90/10 and a 70/30. I have heard of both of them, but have never heard of anyone using a 70/30?
