Another Header Question

I need a set of headers for my 89 GT. I'm running a 331 with ProComp heads that have been ported. The exhaust ports on the heads measure 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inche and are square. My problem is How do I know what size headers to get that will match the exhaust ports on my engine. Do 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 headers have that size where they meet the heads? Would like to go with BBK Long Tubes but I don't want to have to port match them or buy the 1 5/8 and end up sending them back to get the 1 3/4.

The Engine is a 331 roller cam roller rockers Forged internals etc. supposed to be getting 400 horse from her but we'll see.

Get the BBK 1 3/4 and you will be fine.

A primary tube that is bigger than the exhaust port is not a big deal. A primary tube that is smaller than the exhaust port creates a restriction.

I have the same heads, hand crafted by highly skilled Chinese babys. The ports are rather large, I used my old headers and found out they were just a hair too small. I dont know what brand they are but there 1 3/4" primaries.

Got the BBK Longtubes 1 3/4 with mid pipes. fixed the port issue but damn are they a pain to install.

they can be, i suggest putting a jack under the motor, and jacking the motor out of the mounts by say 1 inch to get the passenger side in. the drivier side should just slide right in from under the car
