need help w/fuel pressure regulator

I just put a fuel pressure gauge on to make sure my fuel pressure is were it needs to be. I was told to start the car with the vacum line disconnected adjust the regulator around 36lbs and put the vacum line back on the also said that when the vacum line is hooked back up that the pressure would increase but when I hook the vacum line back up the pressure drops. Is this a definate sign that the regulator is bad.

Sounds like it is operating fine to me. You either did not understand what the person told you or that person is wrong. Fuel pressure changes with vacuum, the more vacuum, the lower the fuel pressure. With the vac line removed when you are adjusting, that is a vac of 0 and the highest fuel pressure you should ever see. 39# is the stock setting.

I must have miss understood the person that told me that. Thanks! Now I changed the fuel pressure regulator any how and set the new one at 36psi. My car still does not want to restart after it is warm any suggestions.

Thanks! Any ideas why it doesn't want to restart It did not do this when the 19lbs were in which was just a couple weeks ago and this started as soon as the 30's were installed.

If your running 30#s w/ no tune it will be rich on start up. To clear the problem just hold the pedal to the floor it will start then. BTW are you using the correct MAF for the 30#s?

I've tried that and that does not start it floods the hell out it which I've been told you can't flood a fuel injection but you sure can smell alot of fuel when I try that. As far as I know I baught a 76mm maf calibrated for 30's I'm going to call C & L and make sure that the flow tube they sold is the correct one.

Yes you can flood fuel injection. I wouldn't take anymore advice from the person that told you that.

Did you try setting the fuel pressure to 32psi yet?
