need tremec help!
Ok here's the deal:
I have a tremec TKO. I had it completely rebuilt because I got it from a junkyard. The input shaft had snapped clean off (yeah the driver died in the crash....) I had a transmission guy go all through it and he said it was fine, and he replaced the input shaft and seals ect... I purchased a B&M short throw "ripper shifter" for a tremec part number 45054. This must be the right shifter because it bolts right up to the tranny..... I recently got my clutch hooked up but even when I push the clutch all the way to the floor I still can't move the shifter!!! The shifter will move slightly to the right but thats it, harly any play at all. You cannot get into any gear, the tranny just stays in neutral! I tightened the adjustment screw on the clutch cable at the fork down so there's only about 1.5in more to screw, still no change at all......... Any idea what's happening? Does it have to do with the throwout bearing or the shifter? any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!! ask me if you guys need any more info! -Devin

alright I'm not sure what you mean by "index" but I have a lakewood scattershield specifically for a 79-93 mustang with a tremec transmission.....

You need to index that bell housing.
The trans bolts to the bell housing and the bell housing bolts to the engine. If the bell housing isn't perfectly centered and squared with the engine then the transmission will be off also. This should be done on any new bell housing install and is pretty important to clutch engagement and throw out bearing life. Lakewoods are also notorious for being pretty far off when bolted on straight out of the box. Your problem may be related to something else, but this is an important first step to "properly" installing a new trans and bell house combo. http://www.lakewoodindustries.com/pd..._procedure.pdf Bellhousing Indexing Fixture Bellhousing Indexing Fixture Instructions
