95 GT Procharged Dyno pull...need some help

Alright, I just took my 95 GT in today to get dyno tuned. It's a 306, p&p intake manifold, 38lb injectors, bbk headers, Dual exhaust with H pipe, and a p600b intercooled procharger. On it's first pull it was off the charts lean and only making 250 rwhp. Everything on it checks out mechanically, it needs a tune real bad though. The guy at the dyno shop told me If I go with a piggyback, I'll need to convert it to a fox body type computer, because the 94-95 computers are self regulating, and will basically make everything inconsistent? Does that sound right? Or can I just stick a Anderson Ford PMS on there and have it dyno tuned? He said my other option is to go full standalone computer management, but I don't have the cash. So any help you guys could give me would be great. thanks

I dont think a Fox computer would work in an Sn95
there are some differences in the harness and what the computer controls.

I could swear that there are people running SCT chips on SN95 computers
without issue.

There is also the AEM plug-n-play computer.
It completely replaces stock computer, but plugs into factory harness.
and they make one for the 94-95 stangs. Cost about $1,600
Worth every penny on a boosted engine. I love mine. As good as FAST
for half the money and dont have to rewire the car.

He wants to replace some of the harness in the 95 to get it to run a fox body computer. And after that do a piggy back....It's seems like a lot of pointless work but I don't know??? I thought I could get a Anderson PMS and be set....Does anyone know about this?

AEM's plug and play computer is $1,600? That seems pretty decent.

If it was off the charts lean and it was run WOT on the dyno then it is no longer OK mechanically.

Highly recommend the AEM if you can afford it. It's an incredible computer.
Accuracy and versatility of big dollar stand-alone like FAST but
plugs into the factory harness.

You will be able to tune MUCH better than a stock Ford computer, data log
and no need for an MSD ignition box. The AEM controls timing even more
accurately. It has built in rev limiters, 2steps, traction control, virtual dashboard
for real time engine data display on pc and much more.

AEM also just came out with their "EPM" module that replaces distributor
for $250-300 and lets you run individual coil packs like late model cars.

I'm running LS-1 coils on my 351W in a Fox Mustang. Looks cool as hell
and gives me 21st century ignition system.

you dont need an aftermarket ECM... you need to find a different tuner

the SN-95 computers are better than the fox computers, once tuned, they handle the car MUCH better

It is a pretty common swap to convert to a A9L computer in 94-95 cars. The T4M0 computer has alot of power robbing drawbacks, mainly timing retards which is why the 94-95 Mustangs are turds compared to the fox body cars. Many people think the SN95 cars are heavier when infact they share almost identical curb weights. Given your combination I would definitely look at a piggy back set up or even a standalone system. You will definitely benefit from it.

But is it normal or required to convert to an A9L computer and then do the piggyback? That's what he suggested. If I do that it's almost the same price as the standalone system, which is what I'm leaning towards right now. Anymore info is great. thanks

SN95 computers have just always had a reputation for being quirky
and harder to tune than the A9L EEC-IV. You can definitely piggy-back
them though.

If he's going to charge anything close to $1,600 to install an A9L, then
screw that, get a 30-1401 AEM box made for the 94-95 Mustangs.

After switching from a chipped A9L to the AEM, my car started easier
idled better and lost all the light and partial throttle jerkiness it had from
having a large bore single blade TB.

Its great what you can make the A9L do and tons of people make
great power with them, but lets face it, they are mid-80's cheap
mass market computer never intended for boosted or big cam or high rpm
applications.
