Header instal. Tell me its gonna be alright please

Ok so im sitting in my apartment and all my parts for my long tubes and new cat back are sitting at home waiting for me to install them next weekend when I go home for good. But im sitting here watching mythbusters with nothing to do getting stressed out over it.

I worry to easy and now im worried about the header install. I got BBK long tubes that where used and already on a car for a few miles but in very good shape. Then I got a brand new BBK off road H and a MAC pro dump cat back.

Im sitting here worrying if its gonna all fall together and what not. Tell me again exactly all that will happen. They go around the steering shaft right? I looked at my steering shaft a little bit ago and noticed it isnt that big around so it should have no problem fitting in there. But then I read all this stuff about how you migh have to lenghten the steering shaft. But why would I have to do that I dont even have to disconnect is do I?

And im gonna do this on my car hoist in my garage. This will make it much easier right?

Thanks guys

I have your exact same car, 1986 GT(except its black lol). I have the same exact setup except with flowmaster dumps and everything fits fine. No problems AT ALL. PM me if you have any questions while you're doing the install

The BBKs will not need you to disconnect the steering shaft. It's a straight forward bolt-up.

Just did the same install on my 89 this weekend. Had to remove the steering shaft and when I put it back on the rag joint rubs the header. I hope you don't have the same problem. I am ordering a new shaft without the rag joint to solve this problem.

I dont think im gonna have to get the new steering shaft if you didnt threehonks cause we got the same cars lol

What did you do about that air tube going to your h pipe. I think it might be a good time for me to also buy the smog delete pulley and remove all my usless smog stuff. That would also free up some room

I had to dent my bkk long tubes a little with my flaming river steering shaft. I have the exact same exhaust set up as you except x-pipe...sounds good.

I just left the tube that would go to the old h-pipe open, and I had no problems at all. I ran it for a while like that but now I just deleted the smog pump altogether, which I would recommend
