explorer heads and intake

I have a stock 94 gt. I have read a lot about explorer heads and intake, would intake and heads from an explorer give me a big difference and if so what year of explorer should I look for to pull them off of, or does anyone know were I can get some. Thanks

Explorer heads and intake will give you about 30 horsepower or so. You will need them off a 1997 1/2 or newer Explorer. They are commonly refered to as GT40P heads. You can usually find the heads and intake at a salvage yard for about $500 - $600.

Is it worth it? Would it be better to some better heads for a little more cash?

There are much better heads out there, and IMO, the money would be well spent to buy a set of aftermarket heads like TF, AFR, etc.

But if all you can afford is GT40P then they are better than stock heads.

I think you also need different headers for the "P" heads...I'm pretty sure of that.

it depends on the headers. some headers will work with both the stock type heads and the "p" heads and some won't.

The best "bang for the buck" heads are currently the Edelbrock series that flow very well out of the box and are much cheaper than the AFR and Canfields.

if you want those explorer heads and intake I got a guy who sells them for 150 shipped upper and lower for the intakes, and 300 shipped for the two heads, you wont find a better price unless you pick them yourself at a local junk yard

if you can find a 95 or 96 the first year of the explorer the plugs were not the angle as the P heads

No, I specifically said 97 1/2 and newer. Why would a guy want to buy a set of the early Explorer heads? That would be a waste of time and money.
