tranny?

i have a 5.0 87 gt. My trans is bein all retarted and when you put it in 1st and go to take off it will throw it self out and make a horrible gear grinding noise.(its also extremly stiff to get into first gear). I have a guy willing to sell me his 99 cobra trans for 275. But after i told him what i was puttin it in he said it wont work. So im wondering if anyone has ever swaped this trans in or is thare a way i can use it? Wats the difference? also if ne one knos how much it would cost (roughly) to have the bad trans rebuilt that would be awsome.

don't know about the swap. but the rebuild could be 600 bucks or so. that's what i was quoted.

stock shifter...but i just picked up a just rebuilt t5 with b&m ripper shifter brass snycros and brand new gears for 300 bux so idc about old one really ne more
