Another Problem...

Got a 89 Stang 5.0 with basic bolt-ons. Just put tranny back in and now another problem has come up. The car starts and you can drive all day long, but sometimes when you go to shut it off and try and crank it again it wants to just turn over and over and does not want to start. Any idea what may cause this?

i had that problem of my starter getting hot by my long tubes, replaced it with a powermaster starter and problem solved

long tubes heat up the stock starter and will fck it up pretty good

Yes I do have long tubes... Not sure how old the fuel pump is though...I thought it my be the fuel pump or filter or something, but once the car is started it can run on its own. Does anyone think that it may be a timing issue?

Its not the starter......... if it keeps turning over and over....could be too much timing....
But I bet your running rich and getting the plugs wet....drive the car around till it gets to operating temp ...go home and pulls some plugs.... See if they are wet

Okay I will do that...So if the plugs are still wet what would be the next step? Pretty sure Its not the starter as well because I've had the long tube headers on since I had the car and had know problems. Does anyone think that it may be an injector problem?

car seems to be starting fine now; however, seems to sometimes have a sputter to it...still runs a little rich and it idles about 1,000rpm, not to sure why...the timing was at about 10 degrees and I bumped it up to 12 degrees. Any ideas of how to fix the idle...

if you let the car cool down and come back to it does it start? maybe let it sit for an hour? if so i believe its an ECU issue

Is the diaphram in the regulator ruptured? When you shut the car off and pull the vacuum line off the regulator is the line moist with fuel?
