mufflers size?

Im getting ready to purchase some Flowmaster super 40 mufflers but need to know what size i should get (inlet and outlet i mean). I know 3in is for the more serious motors but im looking at either the 2.25 or the 2.5in.

So far the only mods i have are:
bbk shorties
o/r h pipe
upgrades to the electrical system and cooling

Soon to come:
gears
suspension upgrades
2nd car lol
408w

i believe they are the equal length ones. all the exhaust stuff was done by the previous owner and when i got it i liked it alot (compared to my acura integra lol) but i like the tailpipes so im getting rid of the dumps he had on there. i will try to add a sound clip the best i can will be a couple weeks though
